SIA: Precious Larvae

Welcome to another week of SIA! This week, our inspiration comes from the precious metal/jeweled larval cases created by French artist Hubert Duprat in collaboration with the caddisflies, and all the interpretations are really interesting! Let’s take a look:

First up is my co-host, Shelbee, who took the turquoise from one of the cases as the basis for her outfit and accessorized it with gold and white accents:

Up next is Reni, who also went with gold and pearl for her outfit:

Marsha chose to interpret this a little differently, with a kimono that she said reminded her of an insect emerging from its chrysalis, and also paired it with gold and turquoise:

My other co-host, Terri, also wore a kimono, pairing it with her mules which have “outrageous” pearl-encrusted bows:

And finally, here’s me:

It’s funny how everybody chose to go the floral and/or flowy route except for me! But that’s the fun of SIA. Sometimes you can have wildly different interpretations, sometimes you can have similar silhouettes but everybody just put their own spin on it.
