That title sounds like a particularly messed up 50 Shades fanfic, doesn’t it? (I mean, the books themselves started out as fanfics, but I’m sure there are fanfics of it. There are fanfics of everything.)
Anyway, I titled the post so because it’s a freezing gray day here and I didn’t feel like wearing any color, apparently. I had thought about adding a brooch or something to the coat, but in the end I didn’t, because I actually kinda like the neutral color scheme. Also because I had reached the “coughing off a lung” stage of my sore throat, so I couldn’t be arsed to do anything interesting with my outfit.

And here are this week’s looks:
Yes, I wore these black jeans five days in a row to see if anyone noticed (no one did) – which goes to show they’re a really good basic, staple piece to have.
The proportions of this outfit are really off, but I wanted to get this turtleneck sweater a bit more wear, since it’s also one of the nicer pieces in my closet that doesn’t get worn too often because there are only so many ways I can style it. Layering a blazer on top of it seems like a good idea, it’s just that this blazer is way too short. I have a really long torso, and stumpy legs, so it’s tricky to find a cut of blazer that fits me well.
Now, on a more random note, may I present this butterfly that thought my boot was a landing pad? It rested there long enough for me to hop over to my tripod, get my camera, and take this photo, and didn’t stumble away until I poked at it. It was like it was drunk. Or perhaps high on some hallucinogenic flower in our garden.

The temperature dropped a bit last week, so I brought out the thickest sweater in my wardrobe – this turtleneck tunic. It’s a bit tricky to style; I can’t think of any way to wear it other than with skinny jeans and boots (and it has to be riding boots too, to balance out the length on top, I don’t think ankle boots will work.) But hey, at least it is a tiny bit of change from my usual uniform of sweater + jeans + scarf, right? Honestly, I have been stuck with that formula for so long now that any change, no matter how small, is welcome.
P/S: Apparently this sweater wasn’t in my capsule at all! Oops. I guess it’s just another outfit then…

It may not look cold in these photos, but trust me, I was freezing my butt off. We’re having what is called “bitter cold”, which means it’s rainy and windy (you can tell by all the little hairs going crazy around my head) and absolutely miserable. Last weekend my ex-roommate from LA stopped by Hanoi during his tour around Southeast Asia, and he was shocked at how cold it was. We did have some fun going around town though. I really wish I could join him for the rest of the tour, but alas, it’s back to the old grind for me. Classes started again yesterday, and this semester my class actually has two sessions per week, so I guess it’s going to be a little bit busier.

So my first week of outfits for the new year has been kind of boring, but my brain is kinda on fire (I’ve been writing/reading for like, 10 hours a day) so this is the best that I can come up with. Hopefully next week it’ll start slowing down and I can put a bit more effort into the blog.
