A couple of weeks ago, while cleaning out my shoe rack to put away summer shoes and take out winter ones, I realized something: in my attempt to make my wardrobe more cohesive, my shoe collection has become quite boring. True, I still have my red T-straps and my vintage green cut-out heels, but I hardly ever wear them anymore. Now it’s all black or brown shoes for me.
That is why, upon seeing these sky-blue oxfords, I made my first impulse purchase in quite a while – they look so fun! With them on, I can keep the rest of the outfit simple, which suits me right to the ground. The color actually goes quite well with the rest of my wardrobe, and I got a few compliments on them already, so I’m sure this is one of the impulse purchases I’m not going to regret.

I’ve never noticed how… done this owl on my brooch looks. It’s like she physically can’t roll her eyes back any further, that’s how done she is.
I’m pretty done too. I would say “Happy Friday”, except my week is not over – I still have a workshop class to teach on Sunday. So enjoy your weekend everybody, while I’m like this:

And my looks this week – I like the individual outfits, but as a whole capsule, it’s pretty random:
This week is a weird one, in terms of capsule. In fact, it wasn’t a capsule at all because I didn’t wear anything twice. I couldn’t, anyway, with such heat. So here is an outfit that has nothing to do with the other two I’ve posted. I almost didn’t post it because the last time I wore this shirt, I paired it with almost the exact same item – also a black pleated skirt and heeled oxfords. But here it is anyway. I guess my sartorial sense, like the brains of the trolls in Discworld, doesn’t function very well when it’s overheated.

It may not look like it from the full shots, but I’m actually wearing all the basic colors in this outfit – there are black and white from my skirt and shirt, and my shirt has red, blue, and green prints on it, and the yellow is from my shoes. Yeah, the shirt is new – I think most of my purchases this season has been “quirky button-ups”, which, when I think about it, is very much my style. It’s too bad that the Top 10 challenge is already drawing to a close, because I would’ve added this shirt to it in a heartbeat.
