Quarantine Morning #1

I actually had two outfits for this week’s SIA, inspired by Edward Hopper’s “Carolina Morning” – one inspired by the colors of the entire painting, and another inspired just by the woman in the painting. This, of course, is the one inspired by the entire painting. I picked out the blue and sandy beige of the painting and added a pop of red with my sneakers – simple. It’s the perfect work-from-home outfit too, comfy but still put-together enough.

The other outfit will be posted on Wednesday, so stay tuned. And don’t forget to check Kim’s blog for other interpretations of this painting!

Cookie Monster

Don’t let the sunshine fool you, it’s colder than it looks. Which is why I decided to bring out this jacket, which I dubbed my “Cookie Monster” jacket due to its navy fleece material. I bought it earlier this season, but it’s a little casual for my work clothes (I wore this to a book fair last weekend) so it hasn’t made its appearance on the blog yet. I wish there were some ways to dress it up, because it’s really warm and comfy and I want to wear it more, but I don’t want to be mistaken for a student again. Any ideas?

The Red Shoes

Gods, it seems like a long time since I did an outfit post, doesn’t it? We’ve been having some end-of-the-season cold snaps, so here is a cold-weather outfit. It’s pretty simple, but I want to talk about these shoes for a bit. If you recognize them, that’s because they’re the same shoes I brought with me to Cuba. When I was packing for the trip, I planned on taking my Converse, but then I thought about the amount of walking I would no doubt be doing, and decided that I needed something lighter and with a bit of an arch support.

So I bought these at the last minute, and it turned out to be a great decision. They’re so soft and light that I didn’t need to break them in, and I’ve walked through the cobblestone streets and hiked through fields and jungles in them with no problems. I know this sounds like a post sponsored by the shoes company, but it’s not (I wish); the shoes are just so awesome I have to rave about them!
