Long Break

This outfit is like, shamefully matchy, but we’re having a long 5-day break (today and tomorrow are Vietnam’s Labor Day holiday, so there’s no sense in making people come to work on Monday; they’re just going to make it up this Saturday instead) and all I want to do is to read Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. I should try to write again too. Only… getting another rejection (I’ve been submitting my stories to online magazines) is not the best source for inspiration. I know I have to look at the rejections as motivations to keep trying and get better, but again, that’s easier said than done. Guess I’ll just make sure to write a little bit every day until I get back into the groove of it.

Oh and, this is my submission for the next color in the Spring Color challenge – the purple is a bit deeper than Pantone’s “African violet”, but it’s close enough.

Feminine Menswear

Something simple but still fun for the weekend. Suspenders always seem masculine to me, so I played around by pairing them with a skirt. My loafers would be a better fit for the “feminine/masculine” theme I was going for, but I only remembered this after I’d taken the photos. Oh well. It’s Saturday. My mind was elsewhere.

Future And Stuff

I know, another almost-accessory-less outfit. But in this heat, the only accessory I need is a layer of bug spray.

Anyway, on to a different matter. There were two things I was worried that my parents were going to pester me about once I moved home: get a real job and get married (or at least get into a serious relationship). The one thing I hate more than planning for the future is when other people ask me about my plan for the future. It’s not that I don’t make plans, but I plan for next month, next quarter. I try not planning too far ahead, because who knows what could happen to derail those plans.

But I seemed to have underestimated how understanding my parents are. They didn’t rush me into finding a job. We’ve talked about it, but I’d like to take the rest of the year off, travel a bit if I could. Besides I’m doing fine with my freelancing. As for getting married… we don’t exactly talk about it because I tend to laugh whenever somebody mentions the idea, but after a discussion with my mom, I think they’ve pretty much accepted the fact that I’m going to be an old cat lady. I already kinda am. Then again, I’ve only been home for about two months, so hey, the pestering could start tomorrow 😀

Belt: thrifted (I spray-painted it silver), Flats: thrifted

I’m Back

… for now, anyway. I’ve figured out what’s wrong with my internet connection and found a way to work around it. It’s slower than usual, and it doesn’t always work, but at least I could access my wordpress dashboard again. The weather, on the other hand, was still miserably hot and humid, forcing me to take pictures inside again. Thankfully it was raining cats and dogs as I wrote this, so it’s going to be cooler tomorrow.

It was so dark (because of the approaching storm) while I took the pictures that I had to sit really still – now I know how those people back in Victorian time felt when they had their photos taken! Otherwise I would look like this:
