Playlist Help

printed dress purple cardigan black skinny jeans mustard oxfords by 14 shades of grey

This outfit is stolen directly from Catherine of Not Dressed As Lamb (down to the cuffed jeans; I added the cardigan just because I don’t like sleeveless things.) I like that it’s a more grown-up version of the “dress + legging” look, and it allows me to wear this dress more – the dress is actually super comfy, except for the fact that like most Forever21 dresses, it’s too short.

Anyway, I’m in a bit of a pickle. My best friend from high school just asked me to put together a playlist for her engagement party. It’s just going to be an intimate dinner, so she wants something relatively slow and relaxed, which I have plenty of… only most of them are kind of sad and not suitable for an engagement party. So I need some help. Anybody has suggestion for some slow, romantic indie music?

Blankety Blank

I’m all focused on NaNoWriMo (are you sick of me talking about it yet? Please bear with me, because unless something really really note-worthy happens, I’m going to talk about it until the end of November) and my brain is drawing a blank on what to write in this post. When I was thinking what I should say about the outfit, my train of thought went something like this, “Cable knit sweater… fisherman… the sea… I need to figure out a better ending for that Little Mermaid¬†story…” (I’m doing a bunch of fairy tales retold,¬†Andersen’s Little Mermaid being one of them.) So… yeah, I got nothing.

Playing Hide And Seek

It’s another round of SIA, and the inspiration is Playing Hide and Seek by Chihiro Iwasaki:

There are a lot of lovely colors to pull from here, but believe it or not, the first thing that drew me to the painting is the brooch on the little girl’s cardigan. So of course I had to recreate that as well.

I’m excited that we have a few more bloggers joining us this week. First up is Rebekah of From the Mixed-up Files:

Next, we have Meanz of Koi Story:

And finally my co-creator, Jess of Animated Cardigan:

ETA: We have a late entry from Loren of The Inclined Plane! Better late than never, right?

Thank you ladies! You all look lovely! (OK that sounds like a beauty pageant host.)

Also, expect to see a lot more cherry blossoms in the coming week. This is one instance in which I have no problem repeating a photo location, because it’s too pretty to pass up.
