Here’s my outfit for this week’s SIA, inspired by Rus Khasanov’s “Sweet Dreams” video. I mostly took inspiration from the video as a whole, though the blue-and-pink color scheme is a major part of said inspiration. I also thought that the pattern and bobbles on my sweater are a good nod to the drops of paint and bubbles in the video, and the shine of the skirt can reflect the glitter without being too literal about it. Overall, I’m really happy with the outfit. Check back on Wednesday to see how everybody else did, and don’t forget, if you’re interested in becoming in SIA host, to email me and/or Terri before January 21st!
At the beginning of the fall/winter season, I picked up a bunch of these pleated velvet skirts from the thrift store, in different colors. I’ve only worn three of them – this dusky pink one, the ice blue, and the forest green, but I would’ve bought more colors if the store had them. I had to remind myself that I actually have two more (silver and olive green) still in storage to make myself stop. Plus, I need to save some room for next season (I’m looking for a gold one.) I felt a little crazy buying so many of them at once, but pleated midi skirts have pretty much become a classic by now that I’m confident I can get a lot of wear out of them, as long as my style doesn’t change too much, that is!
Happy the Year of the Ox! The Year of the Rat has been truly horrendous, so hopefully with the Ox, traditionally associated with patience and hard work, we’re going to have a better year. I have to admit, the start is less than auspicious – we’re still in lockdown mode (there is no official lockdown in our country; they just lock down individual streets and neighborhoods where cases have been found, but my family decides we’d rather be safe than sorry, so we’re celebrating the Lunar New Year at home). Still, we can hope, right?
This outfit is from several weeks ago, but it looks like a peach tree in blossom, our traditional New Year decoration, so I thought it would be appropriate.
