Pink & Polka Dot

pink polka dot cardigan magenta pencil skirt black boots by 14 shades of grey

When I first looked at this week’s SIA inspiration, I was like, Uh oh, what do I have in my closet that is pink and/or polka dot? Good thing I remembered this cardigan just in time – and it’s perfect. The rest of the outfit came together pretty quickly, but I have to confess: if it wasn’t for SIA, I never would’ve worn this combination. It’s just too much… pink for me, and I keep thinking of that episode of SpongeBob. You know, the one with the worm? No? OK. My brain is still pretty much mush after that last insane week, so I’m pretty much just babbling here. Anyway, at least I’m done with the first draft of the rewrite, and now I’m on to the much more frustrating phase of rewriting the rewrite. Oh joy.

I’m typing this as I watch the Golden Globes rerun (I missed the live airing this morning because of work) and… seven hells, what is Paula Patton wearing?! She looks like giant walking folded napkin!

A Sock Hop Beneath My Bed

I’m joining the lovely Mara of Eccentric Owl in the 30 Days of Dresses challenge. I don’t have 30 dresses, but I’m going to try and see how many I can wear consecutively before I come running back to pants. Even though I’m better at wearing more dresses and skirts now, to me they’re never going to be as comfy as pants. What about you? Are you more of a dress/skirt girl or a pants/jeans girl?

I almost wore my oxfords and ankle socks with this outfit, because it would complete that “sock hop” look – full skirt, cardigan, saddle shoes. But a knee-length dress and ankle socks is not a good combination for my short legs, and I should also try to stop making every outfit into a themed costume. So I went with heels instead.

And I haven’t forgotten – it’s my turn to pick the Style Imitating Art inspiration again! Since Jess went with an orange color scheme last time, I thought I’d go on the complementary end of the spectrum and picked Homage to the Square: Blue, White, Grey by Josef Albers:

Have fun, and remember to send me your outfit pictures by Sunday evening!

A Case Of Monday-itis

This is one of the less inspired outfits I’ve worn. It started last night as I was laying out my clothes, when I was hit with, “Oh, tomorrow is Monday. Balls.” And with that, my inspiration flew out the window.

It’s mainly because of this annoying rash on my legs. Couldn’t leave them bare, couldn’t wear tights either because the camomile cream on my legs might ruin them. So I decided to go with jeans – I need to finish recycling this pair before throwing them into the laundry bin anyway, and I won’t have to worry about camomile cream sticking to the insides. The thing is, I couldn’t find a top to go with it. In the end, I basically changed out the cardigan from Saturday’s outfit and called it a day. And yes, that means I’ve worn this dress for three outfits in a row (and I’ve worn it as anything but a dress.) I hope I’ve done a good enough job remixing it that nobody notices.

But, the good news is, the rash is going away. So there might be a skirt or dress somewhere down the line.

A Tree Stump And An Easter Basket

They cut down the tree outside my window 😦 Well, not directly outside, but it’s… it was close enough that I could see the branches when I looked out. Now it is no more. So, in memory of the tree, I decided to take my photos with it. Unfortunately there wasn’t any good place to put my tripod, and I was too lazy to go back for my wide-angle lens, so my only pose was to sit:

Check out that color combination.

Yep. I’m an Easter basket 😀

In my family we call this pose “looking to the future” 😛

So, what do you think? Does the Easter color combination work?
