Pink & Polka Dot

pink polka dot cardigan magenta pencil skirt black boots by 14 shades of grey

When I first looked at this week’s SIA inspiration, I was like, Uh oh, what do I have in my closet that is pink and/or polka dot? Good thing I remembered this cardigan just in time – and it’s perfect. The rest of the outfit came together pretty quickly, but I have to confess: if it wasn’t for SIA, I never would’ve worn this combination. It’s just too much… pink for me, and I keep thinking of that episode of SpongeBob. You know, the one with the worm? No? OK. My brain is still pretty much mush after that last insane week, so I’m pretty much just babbling here. Anyway, at least I’m done with the first draft of the rewrite, and now I’m on to the much more frustrating phase of rewriting the rewrite. Oh joy.

I’m typing this as I watch the Golden Globes rerun (I missed the live airing this morning because of work) and… seven hells, what is Paula Patton wearing?! She looks like giant walking folded napkin!

So It Begins

Well, November is here, and that means it’s another round of NaNoWriMo. I was debating whether to sign up for it this year, because rather than writing a whole novel like I did last time, this year I want to work on a bunch of short stories and treatments, plus I want to write them in Vietnamese instead of English (I’m looking to submit them to some literary magazines), which may make it difficult to count toward the 50,000 words. After all, it doesn’t matter if I sign up or not as long as I write about 2000 words a day. In the end, I decided that yes, I do need that deadline hanging over my head, otherwise I would probably quit halfway through. Plus I’m sick of feeling unproductive. Last year I complete the challenge while juggling a part-time job and an internship, so there’s no reason why I can’t do it this year.

P/S: I may have finally figured out how to casually wear a pencil skirt – an untucked graphic T-shirt and a pair of grubby sneakers are the answer.

Lab Rat

I totally stole this outfit from Jess – if not the colors then certainly the silhouette. One of my new goals for my style is to try and wear skirts/dresses more often. I have a lot of them but I always reach for the jeans because I’m more comfortable with them. Well, no more! Also, after two monochromatic outfits, I wanted some colors again. Only my cardigan looks kinda like a lab coat. I was looking for a light-colored V-neck cardigan, so I ordered this from Forever21, but I didn’t expect it to be this white.Oh well, maybe after a few wear it’ll turn into off-white 😛
