“Apple and Bicycle” sounds like the title of an alphabet book, doesn’t it? The weather is steadily warming up now, but I still have a few straggling outfits left to post from the good ole days when it was still cool. It’ll be at least 7 more months before I can start wearing things like these again.
On an unrelated note, I went to see “Avengers: Infinity War” earlier today and it was everything I expected. Namely, it’s a lot of fun, all the set pieces are spectacular, and most of the character interactions are enjoyable (I only wish they cut out some stuff with the Guardians of the Galaxy), but it won’t work if you’re not steeped in the MCU. And it’s bloated. Oh so bloated. But you can’t juggle that many characters and storylines without being weighed down by them. At least I could follow each story and understand what the characters are trying to do, and the story beats more or less hit their marks, which is more than I can say for Age of Ultron or most of the DC films.
These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago – with the semester winding down and the crazy weather, I haven’t been taking outfit photos as frequently as I like do. Plus, I’ve been feeling a distinct lack of motivation to come up with an interesting outfit. The other day, I spent about an hour before bed trying to decide what to wear and ended up thinking, What the hell, I’m just going to spend the entire day grading papers anyway, so I just threw on a T-shirt and a pair of jeans. Functional, but not exactly blog-worthy.
I’m sure I’ll get over this rut sooner or later, but it’s a bit frustrating in the meantime. My fellow style bloggers – what do you guys do when you’re in a style rut?
“Preppy” is not a word I usually use to describe my style. Yes, I wear a lot of button-ups, oxford shoes, gingham, and cardigans. But I don’t wear pearls. I think my style is a bit more eclectic than that. However, sometimes you just have to go with a cliche, especially when it’s too early in the week and you’re already running out of ideas for outfits.
Basically, this outfit started out with a pair of shoes. I wanted to wear these oxfords with my white pants, simply because I haven’t paired them together. Then I thought, “Hey, that looks kind of preppy,” and figured what the heck, I’ll be literal this time and wear my gingham shirt. A bit boring, but I’m OK with it.

This outfit is as bland as room-temperature oatmeal, but there is a reason for it and for this post, I swear. See, it hasn’t rained in nearly a month here, and combined with the construction site right in front of our house, that means dust, dust, dust everywhere. So this morning I thought I’d try my old “style voodoo” by wearing my rain shirt, to see if that could make it rain. But when I went into my closet to get the shirt, it was nowhere to be found! I haven’t worn in since April, so it’s possible that it got lost in the shuffle when I put away my winter clothes. I don’t mind the shirt so much, but if I was more superstitious, I’d say this could be a very bad sign for the rain…
Also, that means I had to wear this gingham shirt instead. Riveting stuff, I know.

This is one of those outfits that is such a no-brainer that I can’t believe I haven’t worn it before. But I’ve checked, and I haven’t. So here we are.
It’s still freezing here, btw, so I’ll keep the post short. I still can’t believe just last week I was able to get away with just a shirt and a sweater, whereas now I’m sitting here shivering in two thermal tops, a thick sweater, and a scarf. Indoors.
