Weekly Capsule: 01.3 & 01.4

One of the reasons I wanted to try the weekly capsule is that it would help me have a more regular schedule for posting, but my Internet has been really spotty these last few days, which is why there was no post yesterday (apparently there was some broken fiber-optic cable somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Or maybe some joker decided to type “Google” into Google and broke the Internet.)

It doesn’t matter, because my last two outfits for this week’s capsule are not “blog-worthy” enough to warrant separate posts anyway. Actually, this first weekly capsule has been kind of repetitive, because they’re mostly pieces from my fall/winter capsule, so hopefully next week I can avoid falling back on familiar things and pick out some more interesting pieces.

Weekly Capsule: 01.2

Between this outfit and the one I wore yesterday, I think I have enough for this week’s capsule. Of course, I didn’t think things through again and forgot to take into account the cold snap we’re going to have later on this week. Ah well, I’ll just add a thermal shirt underneath for extra warmth.

And yes, this is another chambray polka dot shirt. I actually bought it a while ago, when I was well into my capsule wardrobe and didn’t want to add another piece in. Yes, yes, I know, I don’t need another chambray polka dot shirt, but this is a popover, so it’s totally different, right? Anyway, I’ve been wearing my other chambray polka dot shirt a lot, so I’m sure this will get a lot of wear too.

Capsule Outfit #37

My SIA co-hosts and I have decided to give SIA a break, since it’s the holiday and everything. The challenge will resume on Monday, January 5th, and it’s my turn to curate, so be sure to drop by in two weeks to see what I’ve picked as inspiration!

In the meantime, I’m still trying to get the most out of my capsule wardrobe, before moving on to a new experiment for the new year (I haven’t decided yet, but I’m leaning very strongly toward weekly capsules.)

Capsule Outfit #34/At the Piano

Yes, this is a new cardigan. Yes, I’m still categorizing this as a capsule outfit because I’m using this cardigan to replace… something. I don’t know, something I haven’t worn yet. If my memory is correct, there are at least three pieces in this capsule I haven’t worn, and it doesn’t look like I will wear them in the foreseeable future, so it doesn’t matter which one I’m replacing. And it’s a nice and warm cardigan, and I don’t have anything maroon/burgundy in my closet (I refuse to call it “oxblood”, which is so 2012 anyway), so I think it’s a justified purchase, don’t you?

Of course, this is also my outfit for this week’s SIA, inspired by Whistler’s “At the Piano”. It’s pretty self-explanatory: the cardigan reflects the deep red of the carpet and the piano, the jeans and boots are for the lady’s black gown, the shirt for the little girl’s white dress, and the scarf and the brooch are for the picture frames and the details on the wall. I am very thorough when it comes to SIA 🙂
