The Floral Enterprise
Posted: June 5, 2013 Filed under: Clothes, Style Imitating Art | Tags: belt, black, black floral skirt, bracelet, floral tunic, gray heels, green, style imitating art 4 CommentsI finally went to see Star Trek: Into Darkness today. You know what the best part about waiting for 2 weeks and then going to see it in the middle of the day is? There was nobody sitting in front of me, so it was like I had the theater all to myself.
As for the movie, I liked it, but a little less than the first one. And I was probably the only one in the audience who got all the nods to The Wrath of Khan – the original Star Trek is not that well-known here, and I only know Wrath of Khan from references in other stuff. I am no Trekkie, not by a long shot! Benedict Cumberbatch is awesome though (then again, when’s he ever not?) Also, it was a little weird seeing the Getty Center as the Starfleet HQ, because it’s so familiar and instantly recognizable, and yet it’s not used as an iconic landmark. It’s like seeing my own street on screen or something.

A Drop Of Golden Sun
Posted: December 5, 2012 Filed under: Clothes, Style Imitating Art | Tags: gray heels, green, mustard cardigan, plaid jacket, style imitating art, tights, yellow, yellow floral skirt 5 CommentsSo here’s the full outfit post for my Henri Matisse interpretation. Like I said, I went overboard with the yellow a little bit, but in my defense there is a lot of yellow in that stained glass window.
I’ve had the “Do Re Mi” song from The Sound of Music stuck in my head for the last week or so because my niece has just discovered it. I’ve learned the hard way that when a two-year-old discover a song she likes, it’s worse than a radio station that keeps playing the latest viral hit. Anyway, if I have to play The Sound of Music for my niece, I prefer “My Favorite Things” or “Edelweiss”, but I’m thankful that at least she’s not addicted to “Gangnam Style” or something.

Autumn White

The weather had a different idea, however, and suddenly decided to warm up, so I had to ditch the cardigan I’d planned to wear. I would’ve ditched the tights too, but I have no other sky-blue accessory. Ah, such is the plight of a fashion blogger.
Oh and of course I had to do this:
Big thanks to Jess for such a fun inspiration, and don’t forget to check out Animated Cardigan to see how this painting is interpreted.

Wear Ye Polyester While Ye May
Posted: April 12, 2012 Filed under: Clothes | Tags: gray heels, green, green graphic print dress, necklace, purple, purple F21 cardigan 10 CommentsI got this dress a while ago, but it’s one of those quintessential 70’s thick polyester dresses (I think my mom has one with the exact same texture), and the weather has been too warm for it. Thankfully it’s cold and rainy today so I got one last chance to bring out the polyester before summer hits.
Also, doesn’t the print on the dress remind you of Tron? Or Pac-Man?
