Weekly Capsule 46.1 & SIA: Capax Infiniti
Posted: November 16, 2015 Filed under: Capsule, Clothes, Style Imitating Art | Tags: black, black chelsea boots, black tee, capsule fall/winter 2015, gray, gray cardigan, maroon jeans, red, style imitating art, white, white polka dot scarf 6 CommentsFor my interpretation of this week’s SIA, the gorgeous mural “Capax Infiniti” by Faith47, I decided to go the obvious route and just recreate the colors – the reddish shade of the brick wall (I know my jeans look more purple than red but that’s my color correction. If I got my jeans to the color they are in real life, I would look like an Oompa-Loompa), and shades of white, gray, and black of the painting itself. My scarf is a reflection of the soft pleats of the girl’s dress too. I thought about making an “infinity” necklace, which would’ve been the perfect finishing touch, but I didn’t have the time. Ah well. It may not be the most exciting outfit, but it gets the job done.

Weekly Capsule 04.1: Silver & Stones
Posted: January 26, 2015 Filed under: Capsule, Clothes, Style Imitating Art | Tags: blue wide-leg jeans, brooch, brown ankle boots, capsule winter/spring 2015, gray, gray cardigan, gray lace top, style imitating art 1 CommentFor this week’s SIA, inspired by the Grassi family crest made by Renaissance sculptor Properzia de Rossi, I had decided that I would wear this top – the color, the texture, and the lace are perfect echoes of the silver filigree, and the brown boots and brooch would mimic the carved peach and plum stones.
However, I was a bit stumped when trying to figure out what to pair the top with. My gray pencil skirt and gray tights seem to be a natural choice, but when I tried that on, it didn’t feel very “me” at all. One of my sartorial goal this year is to have more realistic outfits for SIA, i.e. outfits I would actually wear and not just something I put together especially for SIA. That is why, after some consideration, I decided to go with these jeans instead. The outfit may not be perfect for SIA, but it’s perfect for me, and that’s what counts.

Capsule Outfit #20
Posted: November 6, 2014 Filed under: Capsule, Clothes | Tags: blue, brown, brown suede ankle boots, capsule fall/winter 2014, gray, gray cardigan, navy plaid shirt, navy skinny jeans 3 CommentsOn Tuesday I said it was going to warm up around Wednesday. Turns out it wasn’t. Didn’t. Winter is coming! *cue Game of Thrones theme music*
P/S: Again, sorry for the less-than-exciting outfits and blurbs. I’ve got a bazillion scripts to finish, and I can’t think. Hopefully things will slow down soon. Otherwise my brain can’t take much more.

Paloma & Dazzling Blue
Posted: April 16, 2014 Filed under: Clothes | Tags: black, black khaki pants, black strappy heels, blue, brooch, gray, gray cardigan, white, white eyelet top 6 CommentsThe next two colors in the Pantone Color challenge is Paloma (Spanish for “dove”, really, I’m so tempted to do this right now) and Dazzling Blue. Paloma, which is a soft gray, is easy for me, but Dazzling Blue is a bit tougher. I have tons of navy clothes, but cobalt blue doesn’t go too well with my coloring, so in the end I decided to go with this brooch. Though I kept thinking a pair of blue heels would look pretty sweet with this outfit too. I don’t know, maybe I’ll keep an eye out at the shops. As long as I don’t wear the color in big dose or close to my face, I’d be fine.
