Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

For this week’s SIA, inspired by the mirror work of the Ali Ibn Hamzeh Shrine in Shiraz, Iran, I had planned an outfit with my sequin T-shirt and green khaki trousers (for the glitter and the green color, you see.) Unfortunately, the weather cooled down unexpectedly, so I had to go with plan B – this embellished sweatshirt and a green scarf. My light blue jeans are simply to stick with the color scheme, but these boots are a revelation, if I do say so myself – the cutouts are to mimic the intricate design of the mirror tiles. All in all, I’m happy with the outfit, even if it wasn’t what I had in mind.

If you haven’t sent me your outfit, you still have until tomorrow. And don’t forget to check back on Wednesday to see how others interpret this artwork!

Make Like A Tree

This outfit was from before the Lunar New Year, when it was still cool enough for sweaters and boots (seriously, it’s like summer here right now.) Again, it was my attempt to wear some more colors – well, more colors than black and gray, since my sweater’s shade of green is still considered a neutral. But then when it came to accessorizing, I was stumped, until I decided to take the green of the sweater and ran with the “tree” theme – my boots are like the tree trunk/roots, and of course, I also added a tree brooch. Too literal? I don’t care 😛
