Weekly Capsule 27.4: Casual Fourth

I didn’t mean to put together two Fourth of July looks, but since this is what I had lying around last Friday, I just reached for them. The fact that it was another red, white, and blue outfit was purely by chance – I wasn’t thinking much about my sartorial choices, because we’re having another asphalt-melting heat wave over here. For this whole week, I only went outside to take outfit photos early in the morning, scrambled indoors, and didn’t set foot outside again until long after sunset. But it’s been hot all over the world too, hasn’t it? We’re lucky that our house has air conditioners and is relatively cool even without them (when it’s 100+ outside, the temperature in our living room remains around 85.) I don’t know how people in Europe survive without air conditioning.

Weekly Capsule 25.4: A New Friend

These pants are ridiculously comfortable. So comfortable in fact, that I bought two pairs in different colors. I never do that! But wouldn’t you buy multiples too, when you find pants that feel just like pajamas but are nice enough to be worn outside the house (wonky rolled cuffs notwithstanding)? I have a feeling we’re going to see a lot more of them on the blog in the future.

Also, the bracelet is kind of an afterthought, but my outfits have been monochromatic for quite some time now, so I thought I should add some colors back in small doses. Speaking of which, I was looking through my archives the other day and saw a post where I complained that an outfit is “too monochromatic” so I added in two pops of color. I really have come full circle, haven’t I?

Weekly Capsule 24.2: Dog’s Tooth

No, not houndstooth, as in the print. Dog’s tooth, as in my dog, who, upon seeing these new sneakers (that I bought along with the black pair that I wore last week), immediately seized them and processed to chew a hole through one of them. Thankfully my sister was able to fix it by patching it up and adding a similar patch to the other shoe, so they don’t look too bad… at least from afar.

Anyway, I wore this to a co-worker’s baby shower. It was casual, and I knew there were going to be other babies there, so I put together something I could run around in. I’m more comfortable with kids and babies than I used to be, now that I’ve had practice with my niece and nephew, but I still want to wear the most comfy outfit when I’m around them. The white shirt, in hindsight, could have been a mistake, but luckily none of the kids was particularly grubby 😛

Weekly Capsule 22.2: White Heat

I don’t often pair light colors together. I have no qualm about pairing a navy shirt with black jeans. White shirt and white pants though? That makes the klutz in me very nervous – I am notorious about spilling things and dropping things and knocking things over. But now it is so hot that the thought of jeans or my black khaki pants is unbearable. How hot is it, you ask? Well, let me list off a couple of things:

– The water from the sink at our house is permanently warm now because the pipes are so hot.

– A local airport had to be shut down because the asphalt on the runway melted.

– And finally, this is how my cat sleeps these days.

Of course, the mismatched whites in my outfit are making my eyes twitch, but that’s the problem for another day. For now, I’m focusing on staying cool.

Usually I wouldn’t blog a simple outfit like this, but I just got this shirt from my sister, and wanted to show it off. Is it the perfect t-shirt for me or what? And big thanks to my sister for knowing so me well 🙂
