Rain Shirt Strikes Again
Posted: May 2, 2017 Filed under: Clothes | Tags: black, black sandals, blue, blue floral popover, navy skinny jeans, necklace 2 CommentsYou guys may know this as my “rain shirt”, aka the shirt I always wear when it’s raining or has just rained. It makes sense – the fabric is a little thicker so I tend to reach for it when it’s cool out. But it gets weirder. Get this: the previous night, I was debating between the two shirts for the next morning. As soon as I picked this one, the rain started. That’s right, now it’s raining even as I’mĀ thinkingĀ about wearing the shirt.

Unseasonable
Posted: October 25, 2016 Filed under: Clothes | Tags: blue, blue floral popover, brown sandals, necklace, white, white jeans 2 CommentsHas anybody else experienced unseasonable weather this year? It has been stupidly warm for us this past month – granted, we never have much of a fall anyway, but I’ve looked at my archives from last year and saw that by the end of October, I had at least started to wear long-sleeved tops and scarves and cardigans. This year, November is approaching and yet the temperature refuses to go below 90’s, and I’m still sweating in my T-shirts and linen pants. I even tempted fate by dressing like it’s the height of summer – white jeans, my “rain” shirt, and sandals – to see if I could provoke the weather into remembering that it’s supposed to cool down, but no luck so far. Ugh…

April Shower
Posted: April 12, 2016 Filed under: Clothes | Tags: blue, blue floral popover, navy skinny jeans, red, red suede heels 4 CommentsI think I’m going to call this blue floral shirt my “rain” shirt from now on, because every time I’ve worn it, it usually rains that day or a couple of days later. Case in point: we’ve been having a very annoying spring, all overcast but no rain, when last night the sky just opened up and gave us an actual downpour, with thunder and lightning and everything. Of course, that probably means next week it’s going to be hotter than hell, but for now, I’ll take the rain.

Weekly Capsule 46.2: Accessory Slump
Posted: November 18, 2015 Filed under: Capsule, Clothes | Tags: black, black oxfords, blue, blue floral popover, capsule fall/winter 2015, maroon jeans, red 4 CommentsI’ve been a little bored with my accessories, especially when I wore something with a big pattern like this, which doesn’t work with either my brooches or my necklaces. That’s why I tend to reach for my scarves if I want to add something to my outfit. Except the weather has been annoyingly unpredictable lately – cold and rainy one day, warm and muggy the next – so sometimes I just can’t be bothered. Do you guys have any suggestion to keep your accessories interesting?

Weekly Capsule 35.4: Three Quarters
Posted: September 4, 2015 Filed under: Capsule, Clothes | Tags: blue, blue floral popover, brown, brown loafers, capsule summer/fall 2015, navy boyfriend jeans, necklace Leave a commentThe other day Megan left me a comment saying she can’t believe I’ve been doing the weekly capsule for almost a year now. I can’t either, but there it is – I’m almost three quarters done. The mere fact that I’ve stuck with it for so long proves that the weekly capsule is really working for me. I learn a lot about how to mix and match, about what I like and what works for my style, and most of all, it makes getting dressed so much easier.
But there are still days when I feel a little uninspired. It usually happens at the end of the week, when I don’t have to put too much thought into putting together an outfit and can simply throw together pieces that are still clean. And if the capsule is well thought-out, the outfit will work, it’s just not great. Like this one, for example. I don’t hate it. I’m just… not feeling it.
I’ll keep doing the weekly capsule for the rest of this year though. One, because I never do anything half-assed, and two, I want to see how it works in the fall/winter season. But mostly because IĀ never do anything half-assed.
