Even though it’s pretty warm here (see: sleeveless shirt), I’m determined to add more fall-appropriate touches to my outfits. Like these oxfords. Truth be told, I’ve been having a hard time styling them. I don’t know what else to wear with them other than jeans. They’re a bit severe-looking, so this time I tried pairing them with something girly to see if that can be balanced out.
Well, it backfires, because they went from “masculine” to “old lady” in .01 seconds. How is that even possible?! Maybe I should just embrace their toughness and save them for my menswear outfits.

Since my last complaint about the lack of rain, we’ve had a couple of thunderstorms, but they’re still not the kind of rain we should be getting at this time of the year. These storms pass by too quickly to bring down the temperature. I know, I know, if it rained more than one day, I’d complain about the nonstop rain too, but seriously, this weather is starting to worry me. I’m certainly not looking forward to a drought.
Anyway, this outfit may have been subconsciously influenced by my wish for rain. It would be great if the blue print on my shirt and the watering can brooch could work some sort of voodoo on the weather to cool it down.

I totally stole this outfit from a co-worker who teaches in the Television department (our school is divided into Theater, Film, and Television departments; I’m in Film). It may not be an exact copy, but I remember seeing her wearing a white sleeveless top with a black midi skirt and flats and thinking “I could totally put together something like that”. One of the nice things, sartorially speaking, about working at a liberal art college is that there are always stylish people around for inspiration. Including the students. Though of course the students tend to be, shall we say, wilder in their style, so you have to be a bit more selective about what inspiration to pull from them.
