The Search For The Perfect Striped Tee
Posted: June 2, 2017 Filed under: Clothes | Tags: black, black pants, black-and-white striped top, brown cape, brown loafers, necklace 3 CommentsI know I wear stripes a lot – I’ve lost count of how many striped tops I have – but I think I keep buying them because I’ve never found the right one. There’s always something wrong with it, either in the stripes, the neckline, or the fit. My black-and-white striped sweatshirt is the closest to the perfect striped top that I have, but even that one is a bit too short, plus it’s a sweatshirt so I can’t wear it year-round. This one is pretty close too, but it is also too short, and I prefer a wider neckline. All I want is a simple striped top, boat-necked, not too fitted, preferrably with black-and-white stripes, but I’ll also take blue-and-white, even red-and-white, or red-blue-and-white (like this one.) Is that too much to ask?

I have been ready for it to be over for two weeks now. Maybe it’s because I’m always extra-busy in March. So much so that I’ve missed yet another blog anniversary – that’s right, the blog is 5 years old now! Hooray!
And also, because I’ve been extra-busy, I’m keeping things simple. This outfit is nothing special, but I’ve been wearing versions of it on days when I can’t be bother to think about clothes. It’s comfy, relatively put-together, and, dare I say it, a bit chic too, so it’s a winner.

Weekly Capsule 47.3: Back to Basic
Posted: November 26, 2015 Filed under: Capsule, Clothes | Tags: black, black khaki pants, black-and-white striped top, brown, brown loafers, capsule fall/winter 2015, necklace 4 CommentsHappy Thanksgiving to my US readers!
A simple outfit today because it’s finals for one of my classes, and I just wanted to focus on the exam. Finals are tough for teachers too, you know. Though to be fair, finals in film schools may be more enjoyable than most – I had the class watch and break down the structure of Shaun of the Dead. How many of you got to watch a zombie movie for your tests? (And most of the students did quite well, if I do say so myself.)

Weekly Capsule 42.4: Eight Days A Week
Posted: October 23, 2015 Filed under: Capsule, Clothes | Tags: black, black oxfords, black-and-white striped top, capsule fall/winter 2015, maroon jeans, necklace, red 4 CommentsI know my last two outfits for this week are not very blog-worthy – this one, for example, is the same as the last time I wore this shirt except with different pants and a necklace instead of a brooch (it is, in fact, a direct copy of the catalog photo of these exact jeans… I think). But it’s Friday, and I’ve been teaching 6 days a week (Monday-Friday, and half day on Sunday) for the past four weeks, on top of my usual script reading and translation work, so give me a break. Please.

Weekly Capsule 38.2: The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week
Posted: September 24, 2015 Filed under: Capsule, Clothes | Tags: black, black jeans, black oxfords, black-and-white striped top, brooch, capsule summer/fall 2015 4 CommentsIt’s been quite stressful last week. Monday went deceptively well, and Tuesday was OK except it was raining cats and dogs so I couldn’t take photos of this outfit until later. And then on Wednesday I had such a bad case of food poisoning that I had to call in sick for two days. Then on Friday my nephew was sick with bronchitis, so I had to spend Saturday at my sister’s place to help out (he’s better now.) So please excuse me if I end this week’s posting a little earlier than usual.

And my looks this week – not that it counts as a “capsule” when you have two completely unrelated outfits:
