SIA: Portrait Of Countess de la Maitrie

Welcome to this week’s SIA! Our inspiration is Charles-Albert Walhain’s portrait of Countess de la Maitrie, and it’s interesting to see that in something as simple as this, there is still a great variety in the interpretations. Let’s take a look!

First up is my co-host, Shelbee, who went pretty straightforward with her look, but I love that she included the hat, the boutonniere, and the umbrella-as-riding-crop:

My other co-host, Terri, chose something slightly different, as she doesn’t have any gray blazers or jackets. Instead, she went with the tan color of the lady’s boots and added a gray vest (and her dog too!):

Reni said she “stole” her ideas from Shelbee, but I think she looks super sharp and amazing too:

Sally went with blue-gray rather than pure gray for her outfit, but she managed to capture the general spirit of the portrait quite well:

Marsha also went with a monochromatic blue look, and she included her dog as well. How adorable!

Finally, here’s me:

Big thanks to everybody for participating, and don’t forget to come back next week for the new inspiration, chosen by Terri!

  1. So fun! Reni looks fabulous and it gave me a big smile that she was inspired by my outfit! Everyone looks great and I love all the dogs!

  2. So many ideas here for how to mix neutrals in menswear inspired outfits!

  3. Great modern interpretations, Ladies! None of them looks costumery.
