SIA Inspiration: Picasso 3.0
Posted: March 14, 2022 Filed under: Style Imitating Art | Tags: style imitating art 1 CommentIt’s Shelbee’s turn to host SIA, and she picked an absolute classic:
This is, of course, Pablo Picasso’s seminal “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” (The Ladies of Avignon). Shelbee picks it because it has sentimental meanings for her – it was part of her undergrad thesis. Aesthetically speaking, there are a lot of graphic shapes here (hello, proto-cubism), forming an interesting contrast with the soft, earthy colors, so it would be interesting to see how everybody interprets it. Don’t forget to send your outfits to Shelbee (shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com) by next Tuesday, March 22nd. Have fun!
I am so excited about this one but I am also totally stumped on how to style it! I guess I wasn’t thinking of that when I chose it. But that makes the challenge that much more fun! I am looking forward to seeing how everyone interprets it!
