SIA: Decline Of The Day
Posted: February 23, 2022 Filed under: Clothes, Style Imitating Art | Tags: style imitating art 4 CommentsWelcome to another week of SIA! This week’s inspiration is “Decline of the Day” by Emperor Ham Nghi, the Vietnamese monarch in exile, and although several people said it was going to be a difficult one to translate into an outfit, everybody came out in style. Let’s get started!
First up is our co-host, Shelbee, who chose a teal dress and duster coat to represent the “column of green” in the painting, combined with earth-tone boots and hat, and a blue scarf for the hills in the distance:
Up next is Michelle, who paired a lovely printed green tunic with brown leggings and boots (brown boots seem to be a favorite for this challenge):
Suzy built her outfit around this green top, and added some colors with her fabulous scarf and coat:
Reni has a slightly different approach – her floral dress is a nice change and hints of spring to come:
Sally focuses on the unexpected color combination of brown and green with denim blue and various muted light colors washed across the sky – is her top perfect or what?
Marsha went with a floral print as well – and I love the touch of mauve in her scarf:
My other co-host, Terri, also chose brown and green as the basis for her outfit:
And finally, here’s me:
Big thanks to everybody for participating! Don’t forget to come back next week for a new challenge, hosted by Terri!
I love all the variety of statements that were inspired from this work. I will also have to admit, that I was surprised by how difficult it was for me to come up with something. With always professing that green is my favorite color, I was taken aback by how hard I had to work to come up with something.
It is nice to see all the brown and green in these outfits…not typical February colors, so they all look very fresh and welcome!

Everybody looks so great! This was a fabulous piece to inspire style! I am going to read all the individual posts now!
