SIA Inspiration: Mary DelanyPosted: September 27, 2021 Filed under: Style Imitating Art | Tags: style imitating art 2 Comments
It’s my turn to host SIA, and I’m picking something a little different:
These are the exquisite paper collages of 18th-century artist Mary Delaney – yes, those flowers are made of paper, they’re not paintings! Even more remarkable, Mary Delaney didn’t begin these collages until her 70s. Since they’re all of the same style (realistic flowers on black background), I decided not to pick a particular piece; instead, you can choose which flower you want to recreate in an outfit. You can see more of the collages here. Remember to send your outfits to me by next Tuesday (October 5th) to be included in the round-up, and have fun!
I love this inspiration, Salazar! These are so beautiful! I am going to look at more and see which speaks loudest to me!
