SIA: Aurora Borealis

Welcome to another week of SIA! This week, our inspiration is “Aurora Borealis” by Frederic Edwin Church. We have a great variety of looks, so let’s get to it!

First up is Shelbee, who actually put together this outfit before she knew the inspiration, but the tie-dye sweater is perfect to represent the sky, so she just added a red bag for a pop of color. Serendipitous, indeed!

Up next is my co-host, Daenel, who put together a deceptively simple outfit that has a lot of great details to reflect the colors of the painting:

My other co-host, Terri, who took inspiration from the touches of turquoise in the painting:

Reni had a different approach – she chose a colorful but muted dress with ruffles to mimic the colors and movements in the painting:

Suzy also chose to focus on the darker colors, with the perfect accessory – a turquoise necklace:

And finally, here’s me:

Big thanks to everybody for participating, and don’t forget to check back next week for the new inspiration, courtesy of Daenel!

So many fun outfits inspired by this gorgeous painting! I really love Reni’s dress and Suzy’s combination of red and turquoise. So fun! Thanks for hosting.

  3. Hi Salazar,
it was great fun to take part, and it’s so inspiring to see these lovely looks! Thanks for your interpretation and for posting my look.
    XO Reni .

  4. I’m enjoying everyone’s quite different interpretations of this work. Being a fairly abstracted image, it was easy to concentrate on just the colors he used.

  5. Ah, the “rainbow bridge to Asgard” !
