SIA Inspiration: Anna Atkins
Posted: August 20, 2018 Filed under: Style Imitating Art | Tags: style imitating art Leave a commentJen is the host of this week’s SIA, and she picks a fascinating piece (or rather, a series):
These are the botanical photographs of Anna Atkins, a 19th-century British botanist and photographer, often considered the first woman to take a photograph and the first person to publish a book of photographs. She used a process called cyanotype, which result in these cyan-toned, ghostlike and delicate images.
As you can see, the color scheme is simple, but there is plenty of room in terms of prints and accessories to interpret this. Remember to send your outfit to Jen (librarianforlifestyle@gmail.com) by next Tuesday, August 28th. I can’t wait to see what everybody comes up with!
