SIA: The Sculptures of Bernini
Posted: January 17, 2017 Filed under: Clothes, Style Imitating Art | Tags: style imitating art 8 CommentsWelcome to the first SIA challenge of 2017! As a reminder, this week’s inspiration is the sculptures of Gian Lorenzo Bernini. I guess it’s a bit more challenging than usual, which is why we have a small group this time, but each person has a different look, so let’s get to it.
First, we have Nancy, who submitted not one but two outfits – one inspired by the general look of the sculptures, and the other inspired by “The Damned Soul” in particular (did you know Bernini used himself as a model for it?) Way to hit it out of the park, Nancy!
Up next is Mike, whose Christmas sweater and khaki pants are the perfect fit for the color and textures of the sculptures:
Here is our co-host, Jen, in a winter-white outfit inspired by “Blessed Ludovica Albertoni” and “Mary Magdalen“. There are flowers embroidered on her skirt, which adds a nicely unexpected texture:
Finally, here’s me:
Big thanks to everybody for participating, and don’t forget to check back next week for Jen’s pick. Here’s to another successful year of SIA!
Thank you for the feature! I think this is a lovely and creative series!

I hope you do, Jodie! You’re so creative with style challenges 🙂
A small but super-creative round-up! I especially like Nancy’s first outfit (and pose!), and Michael’s sweater has great textures (and I bet is super cozy), and of course, I adore Salazar’s leaf-print scarf.
Thanks Jen. Glad that I got to try my new sweater for this first challenge of the year. And yes, it was very cozy, as it was about 25 degrees outside when I took the photos. 🙂
Wow, everyone did great for this first SIA challenge of the year! And it’s great to see a few new faces as well. Welcome Nancy! And I hope that Jodie will join us next time!
These are all great, good job everybody!
