SIA Inspiration: Go Cubs!
Posted: November 7, 2016 Filed under: Style Imitating Art | Tags: style imitating art 3 CommentsI’m not a sports fan, I know next to nothing about baseball, and I don’t live in the US, and yet I still heard the news that the Chicago Cubs just won their first World Series since 1908. Well, to be fair, my Facebook feed on Thursday simply exploded with statuses about it – but none of my US friends are baseball fans either! That shows you how big this is. So, to celebrate such a momentous event, Erin has picked a vintage Cubs’ scorecard from 1908 as the inspiration for our next SIA:
Fun, right? And it even mentions menswear right there on the card (though what that has to do with baseball, I have no idea), so that’s some sartorial inspiration for you. I don’t know what I’m going to wear yet, but I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with! Remember to send your outfit to Erin (looplooks@gmail.com) by next Monday, November 14th to be included in the round-up!
And that includes me Salazar. I’m not a sports fan by any means (though if I had to choose one sport to play, I’d probably choose Golf). But even someone like me got caught up in all of the excitement because the Cubs were up against my state’s baseball team, The Cleveland Indians. And although they came close, the Cubs ultimately prevailed.
This scorecard from 1908 is pretty cool and it should be interesting to see what ideas everyone comes up with for this one! Should be fun!
Oh goodness, I haven’t got a clue for this except for a boater hat which isn’t exactly seasonal!!
You could also go menswear-inspired, or just focus on pairing some of the colors (light blue + red + black + light yellow). 🙂
