Black & White Trees

I hope that all my East Coast readers are safe and sound. We’ve been having a pretty severe cold snap too (it was in the 40’s!!! There was snow in the mountains! That kind of temperature is probably nothing for you guys, but it’s positively arctic for our tropical climate), so stay warm everybody!

Anyway, this was taken last week, when it was still warm enough for me to take photos outside. It’s for SIA, inspired by Ansel Adams’ “Aspens, Northern New Mexico”. Since I already wore an outfit that would be perfect for SIA by accident, I had to scramble to find something that doesn’t look too similar. In the end, though, I took the same approach – gray sweater/sweatshirt, gray coat, black shoes. Sadly my black jeans are in the wash, but I think these dark navy jeans would do too. Add on top of that a black-and-white scarf, gray socks, and a silver leaf brooch, and we have a not-too-shabby interpretation of the photo, if I do say so myself.

Remember to drop by Jess’ blog to see more interpretations of this photo.

Thanks for your concern Salazar! We’re doing okay here in Ohio as the storm just missed us. I hope that Jess is okay though as I think that she lives closer to the east coast…

And oh wow! It dropped to the 40s there?! That’s cold for you all I bet! You’re right though. In fact, to us up here in the north, anything in the 40s would be considered a heat wave now. We’ve been getting temperatures in the teens, like 12, 15, 17 degrees in the morning and if we’re lucky, it will get up to the 30s in the afternoon. The cold grip of winter is upon us…

Anyway, I think that you did great Salazar! It’s a great interpretation. And hey, you use whatever works, right? 😉

And speaking of SIA, be sure to check out Rabbit Style News blog as she has her interpretation posted of this week’s SIA and did a great job. She just joined our little team and is off to a great start! See you at the round-up tomorrow!

  2. That leaf brooch is the perfect icing on top!

  3. Agreed, the brooch and the scarf are perfect and complement each other so well! 🙂

The scarf is beautiful, so lovely with the grey and it’s a perfect inspiration outfit from that lovely photo 🙂

  5. […] we have Ansel Adams’ “Aspen, Northern New Mexico“, picked by Jess. We don’t feature a lot of photos on SIA, something I plan to rectify […]
