SIA Inspiration: The Hundred Dresses

For this week’s SIA challenge, Jen picked a classic children’s book, “The Hundred Dresses” by Eleanor Estes and illustrated by Louis Slobodkin:

The book is about a new girl named Wanda Petronski, who is teased for having a strange name and for wearing the same dress everyday to school, despite her claim that she has a hundred dresses at home. Then, one day, Wanda stops coming to school altogether, and one of her classmates, Maddie, decides to set things right.

Now, I’ve never read this book (not growing up in the US, I missed out on a lot of children’s classics) but it sounds like a really sweet story, so I want to read it now! As for the SIA challenge, you can simply wear a dress, or if not, put together something inspired by the lovely pastel illustrations. This post on College Fashion about outfits inspired by the book can also give you some ideas. Just remember to send your outfit photos and/or post to Jen (librarianforlifestyle@gmail.com) by next Monday, July 13th. Enjoy!
