Weekly Capsule 24.1 & SIA: Bear In Boat

When I saw this week’s SIA inspiration, Joyce Koskenmaki’s “Bear in Boat“, I knew I couldn’t go literal with my interpretation. The painting has mainly solid colors, colors which I don’t have in my summer closet (those are more suitable for Christmas than June.) So I decided to put together a casual weekend outfit based on the whimsical, eclectic quality of the painting instead. At least, that was my intention. I’m not sure if I pulled it off – this just looks like I was in my pajamas and had to throw on a pair of shoes for a quick errand. Maybe it would work better with a different, less casual top, but I wanted to wear this shirt because the cat kinda looks like the bear in the painting, don’t you think?

14 Shades Of Grey 
I think you did fine Salazar. It’s a good interpretation. I actually have pajamas that are plaid (similar in pattern to your pants) and are red and green, which covers those two colors in the painting and the shirt that goes with it, which is maybe two or three shades darker than your shirt (minus the cat image. by the way, the cat does sort of look like the bear; same kind of body shape), and of course, my ever faithful brown hiking books, which I wore for my last SIA. But I wasn’t so sure about posing in my pajamas…
It’s still a great painting for SIA though and if I had actual daywear of these colors, I would have surely participated in this one as well. After everyone’s warm welcome to me participating in the last SIA, I feel less shy about doing it. š
Super cute! I get what you mean with the pajamas vibe — the brown loafers definitely amp up the look… perhaps a cognac belt would have helped tie in with the loafers?
I totally think this look rocks for the painting- yes, the plaid trousers are like the greeny shadowy background and the bear and t-shirt colour match plus the cat looks very much like the bear! I totally get accused of wearing my pajamas lots! x
This makes me want a pair of plaid pants so badly.
