Weekly Capsule 19.3: AwkwardPosted: May 14, 2015
Here’s a funny story: I was biking to work in this outfit when I saw a woman coming in the opposite direction, wearing a shirt made in the exact same fabric as my top, except hers is a long-sleeved peasant blouse. She was on a motorbike, so she was going much faster than me, but for the briefest moment, as we crossed paths, we just looked down at our own shirt, sort of glanced awkwardly at each other, then went our separate ways. Weirdly enough, I wouldn’t think twice about it if she was wearing the exact same shirt, but because it’s just the same fabric, I had so many questions. Did she buy it from the same store? Same brand? Did the brand made several kinds of shirt in the same fabric or is mine just from the leftover? We may never know.
