Turbulent

gray blouse black jeans brown oxfords by 14 shades of grey

The next color in the Pantone Fall Challenge is “turbulent”, which I think looks like a blueish gray (or grayish blue). Serendipitously, my sister just passed off this blouse to me, and the color is perfect. I’m a little stumped about how to style it though. It looks frumpy with full skirts, and pencil skirts might work, except I don’t really wear pencil skirts anymore now that I’m biking to work. So in the end I kept it simply with jeans and oxfords, but I’m not entirely happy with the outfit either. You guys got any suggestion?

Actually, these oxfords may work for the theme on Thursday too (carafe, which looks to be dark brown… seriously, ridiculous color names are ridiculous.)

  1. The names ARE ridiculous! I would just love to get paid to pick out the names…but anyway, I think you did an awesome job styling this top! It’s so feminine and pretty, but the skinnys and oxfords make a nice contrast to balance it out. Love this look!

Skinnys and oxfords are classic. It looks beautiful the way you’ve styled it! Perhaps it would also look cute with shorts, but then again I wear everything with shorts, so my perception on this could be skewed. Beautiful look and perfect for work!

This is such a femenine blouse! I love the pleating details and the soft color. I wonder if it would would work with slim trousers for work? In any case, you look great and I am loving the oxfords, too! I have nothing for Thursday (just like I had nothing yesterday.) but I will try to wing it anyway!

this is such a pretty blouse! i think the unique texture of the fabric and the pretty lace around the neckline is really enough to allow it to stand out on its own, so i think you styled it perfectly! thanks for joining us during the link up today!

  5. I love that shade of pale blueish grey with black (15 shades of grey?) and the silhouette of the pants is a great counterpoint to the softness of the blouse. and oxfords are always great. sigh.

  6. gah!! are you tired of my comments yet?! This outfit is so utterly flawless. That top is gorgeous (great color, even if it’s a weird name), and it looks stunning with rolled jeans and preppy oxfords.
