The Importance Of Shoes

I don’t want to state a cliche, but the shoes really make the outfit. I was going to wear this with my oxfords, then I realized it would be a weird mix between twee and frumpy, so I switched to these boots. I used to be vehemently against wearing ankle boots with skirts because they will make my Shetland pony legs look even stumpier, but after seeing Lucy Liu spotting the look on Elementary, I was inspired to try it myself. I’m never going to be as fabulous as Joan Watson, but at least I’ve found another way to wear these boots. And of course, they’re falling apart just as I start wanting to wear them more.

Sorry about my wrinkled scarf, by the way. That’s what happened when you stuff it in the back of your scarf drawer and only pull it out at the last minute because the windy is stronger than you think. Hey, maybe I can pretend that it’s made of crushed silk 😛

I think you made the right choice with these shoes. It adds another layer of interest to the outfit. Your honesty about the scarf is hilarious–love your self-deprecating style! The scarf totally looks fabulous as-is, by the way 😉

Found your blog via recommendation from Jen @ Librarian For Life and Style, and I am definitely going to follow you! I LOVE that you blog about books and other forms of media and do outfits inspired by them. My blog is a mash-up of fashion and literature as well. I would love if you could check it out sometime: http://www.tracetheshadows.blogspot.com
