On Location

Are you guys sick of seeing the same background in my photos all the time? I know I am. I keep meaning to scout some new photo locations, and have actually found a couple places with potential near my house, but when it’s time to actually take the photos, I always balk and decide to stay home instead. One, I’m lazy and don’t want to venture out (sometimes I’m too busy to go out, but mostly I’m too lazy.) Two, I know people are going to stare and I’m not comfortable dealing with that (it was different back in LA, when most people didn’t give me a passing glance and those who actually did stare or approach me were so weird that they didn’t make me feel like I’m the weird one). Three, I have to admit, I don’t feel completely safe dragging a camera and tripod around on my own. Sad but true. Our neighborhood is relatively safe, but you can’t never be too careful around here.

Maybe I’ll try to bring the camera with me to school one of these days and take pictures during lunch break but I’d probably die of embarrassment if a professor, or God forbid, a student, saw me. So I guess I’ll just stick to the front yard for now. Oh well. The outfit should be the main focus anyway, right? Though this outfit is really basic so I’m not sure how much of a focus it can be.

I think the tropical greenery suit your style very well! It’s a pretty out of focus neutral to highlight your style.

Of course, I’m shooting on a balcony that’s smaller than a twin bed, so I will never fault a body for being lazy.

  2. Your yard is so gorgeous with all the plants that I don’t really mind your background. Unlike when I shoot in my backyard with its brownish-greenish grass depending on the day (and possible dog poop hopefully not in frame) and surburbia in the background.

That necklace is awesome Duc, how did you make it? I know what you mean about locations. I ventured to my park nr homw onc and I almost died of embarrassment when a girl walking a dog who I swear was the.mum of one of my students, saw me! Sorry I keep missing DOS but I got married and all the prep and now honeymoon! Hi from Italy by the way!! X

  4. So, I totally have a very similar outfit planned once it cools down here and I’m glad I do because this is a great combo.

I wouldn’t worry too much about background, unless you want to. If it’s more work and worry for you, it’s not worth it, IMHO.

Personally, I don’t think it’s important to change your background all the time, or ever, as long as it’s in a decent spot- I think yours is lovely! It’s your clothes and words I’m really looking at!

  6. Frankly, the simplest outfits always seem the classiest and prettiest to me. This is really beautiful. I love the polka dot top, and the shoes and necklace accessorize it perfectly,
