Roses In A Vase

I almost thought I would have to stop the Take One, Pass It On challenge for another round of Style Imitating Art, but when I looked at the inspiration painting, “Yellow Roses in a Vase” by Gustave Caillebotte, I saw that it has a bit of greyish blue in it that my chambray shirt can mimic. So here’s my interpretation of it. The skirt is a lucky find too; it was my mom’s, and I was just thinking I’d wear it before it gets too warm for a corduroy pencil skirt, but then it just happens to work pretty well for the painting (even though those are pink roses and not yellow.)

Check out Jess’ blog to see all the other outfits inspired by this painting!

Today is also the first day of Franziska’s 5 Days, 5 Ways challenge, where you link up to show 5 (or 3, or 10) different ways to wear a particular item. I’d completely forgotten about it until I saw Fran’s post, but luckily my chambray shirt gets a lot of wear. Here are 4 more ways I’ve worn it in the past:

I am crazy about those shoes! I’m surprised they are from F21 because they look more expensive than that. That skirt is pretty spectacular too.

I love all the ways you styled that chambray top! I just recently purchased one, so I’ve been on a hunt for some inspiration! Thanks for joining in on our link-up!

well you can never go wrong with a chambray shirt (OR SO I SAY, SORRY GOMI. i love it). I love that you can wear it with a dress just as easily as jeans. I love it paired with that sweater in the last picture – so casual but so pulled together.

Haha, yeah, I know the chambray trend is done to death, but it’s really versatile – more so than a solid-color button up shirt (which is what it is, basically), but the fabric allows you to dress it up and down.

  4. […] cheat to feature my chambray shirt, because a chambray shirt is not particularly hard to style and last time I participated in one of these link-ups I picked a chambray shirt too. But really, there is nothing […]

    I like the first outfit.
