Gues Post: Animated Cardigan

So for the first guest post, I have my friend and Style Imitating Art co-creator Jess of Animated Cardigan. I’ve always admired her senses of style and humor, both of which she’s brought in this adorable post. Take it away, Jess!

Hi everyone! I’m Jess of Animated Cardigan and I thought that with Salazar on the move, I’d offer some wise words about packing and luggage. I’ve traveled a fair amount, and I’ve had quite a few blunders over the years. (Remind me to tell you about the time I almost got stuck in Ireland for four extra days.) Here’s my advice!

1. Dress to match your luggage. Not only will you be more likely to know what’s what, but when anyone sees you walk by, they’ll say “oh, there’s the sensible young woman who matched her black turtleneck to her black suitcase!” Bonus points if it’s summer when they say that.

2. Make sure you have everything you need. I am well packed here for a three week safari. You may bring more, but I prefer to wear one jumpsuit and turn it inside out halfway through my trip. That way I don’t have a lot of laundry when I get back.

3. Don’t abandon your luggage. First of all, Metro security will hunt you down. They always do. Second, do you really want to lose all those adorable tiny bottles? No way.

4. Don’t throw your luggage. I mean, you can, but you shouldn’t. You know you’re a butterfingers, that’s why you never grew up to be an all-star NFL quarterback.

5. Similarly, don’t knock, push or shove your luggage to the ground. The TSA is watching you, and if you accidentally bump your carry on to the ground, they will reward you by taking half an hour to test your curling shoes because they are made of a “suspicious material”. (Not that I’m mad or anything.)

6. Go ahead, sit on your luggage. It is not only comfortable but extremely sturdy and not at all prone to collapse.

7. Once you’re there, don’t forget your luggage. Don’t be That Person whose luggage ended up on the airport version of Storage Wars. There’s no bouncing back from a shame like that.

8. Last but not least: if your luggage starts to multiply, RUN.

Thanks Salazar for letting me guest post! I wish you the happiest and safest of travels!
