Not Exactly Stars And Stripes

Anybody watched it? All I can say is: big thanks to Jennifer Lawrence, because I was ready to fall asleep by then. I missed the red carpet, but then I saw this online and then went “Awwww.”
Anyway, I had a different outfit in mind for this week’s SIA inspiration, “Untitled” by Sol LeWitt, but the sudden drop in temperature forced me to rethink the whole thing. In the end this is what I came up with. I’m not entirely happy with it (too much black and that scarf does not go at all), but short of this dress, anything I pulled from my closet to recreate this painting would fall short. Still, it’s challenges like this that remind me that SIA is not about recreating the painting exactly, but about drawing what you can from it to create a harmonious outfit.
Don’t forget to check out Animated Cardigan to see how the other lovely ladies interpreted this work of art.

Love that thrifted dress! It looks so cute as a skirt. And yay for Joseph Gordon Levitt – he’s such a cutie
Ah man! I totally forgot to participate! I love your interpretation of it, though! That skirt/dress is super fun!
